6500 guests from abroad including 25 ministers and deputy ministers heading official delegations are expected to attend the 17th International Agriculture Exhibition – Agritech 2009
6,500 guests from abroad including 25 ministers and deputy ministers heading official delegations are expected to arrive at the International Agriculture Exhibition - Agritech 2009. This is the 17th annual exhibition and will take place between the 5th-7th of May 2009 at The Israel Trade Fairs & Convention Center in Tel-Aviv. The CEO of Agritech, Mr. Dani Meiri said that 250 agriculture and irrigation companies are expected to take part in the exhibition, as well as 25 global exhibitors. This will be one of the largest exhibitions ever held in Israel and will spread over an area of 27 thousand square meters of the Convention Center in Tel-Aviv.

Israel and Africa: Making the Desert Bloom
The Head of MASHAV, Ambassador Haim Divon, participated this past May 5th, in a special event organized in Washington by The American Jewish Committee (AJC) entitled: “Israel and Africa: Making the Desert Bloom.” Participating in the event was also the founder of the Jewish Heart for Africa, Sivan Achor. The desire to transform a mostly barren land into a modern state was a key factor in Israel's rapid agricultural development. Making optimal use of harsh land, scarce water, and limited energy sources have driven Israeli revolutions in agricultural technologies.

Israel Chemicals buying Henkel lines for $89 mln
Israel Chemicals Ltd. said that a subsidiary agreed to pay 60 million euros, about $89 million, for the industrial-water-treatment business of Henkel KGaA. The unit of Henkel, the Dusseldorf, Germany, producer of household products, cosmetics and adhesive technologies, had 2006 sales of $77 million and gross-profit margin of 53%.

Israeli statement at Beijing Conference on Combating Desertification

A rising world population; increased demand for water for agriculture, industry, and energy production; and a growing desire for safer and more plentiful water supplies are pressuring existing resources.
