Atlantium Technologies Named a Red Herring Global 100 Award
|

Red Herring magazine announced that it has selected Atlantium Technologies Ltd. as a winner of the Red Herring Global 100 Award. The news was announced at a gala dinner during the Red Herring Global 100 event in Seattle, WA which took place December 3 -5, 2007.
The 100 winners named at the Awards event were chosen from among 1800
privately-held, cutting-edge technology companies nominated from around the
world. Red Herring’s year-long evaluation process examined companies according to both quantitative and qualitative criteria such as financial performance, innovation, management, global strategy, and ecosystem integration.

US Research Company, Clean Edge, lists Israeli Aqwise among "10 to watch" firms |
Israeli water purification company was chosen among leading companies, such as GE and Siemens
Clean Edge, a US research and publishing company that launched the NASDAQ Clean Edge US Index® which is responsible for tracking US-listed clean-energy companies, recently published a list of the ten most promising companies in water technology, which included Israeli AqWise. AqWise specializing in the upgrading of water treatment plants through the patented Attached Growth Airlift Reactor process, a particularly economic method for biologically increasing water treatment capacity using biofilm carriers.

Israel's EcoOcean charts the deep 'green' seas
|
Founded by a team from Tel Aviv University, Israeli NPO EcoOcean's custom-made ship enables scientists from all over the world to study marine life in the Mediterranean in an effort to improve the marine and coastal environment.
Scientists once thought that most of our planet's oxygen is produced in the heart of lush jungles and rainforests. Not so, says Michael Rosenfeld, program coordinator and scientist at EcoOcean - an Israeli non-profit organization that built and funds a unique seafaring vessel that would make Jacques Cousteau proud. "Seventy-five percent of the globe is covered by the ocean. Most of our oxygen is coming from plants in the sea and it is the main thing that is balancing our atmosphere," Rosenfeld told .

OECD Launches Accession Talks with Israel
|
On December 3, 2007, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) announced that its 30 member governments have given a go-ahead to the start of accession talks with Israel and four other states: Chile, Estonia, Russia and Slovenia. On this occasion, the organization also approved so-called accession roadmaps for each of the candidates, setting out the negotiating framework for talks with each of them.

| Environmental Protection Ministry to Provide Support for Environmental Projects and Activities |
|
The Ministry for Environmental Protection has issued a call for proposals to local authorities to submit requests for financial assistance in numerous environmental areas.
Following are the subjects eligible for financial assistance in 2008:
Support to animal welfare organizations
Support for the construction/renovation of animal shelters
Support, in the sum of 800 thousand shekels, for green school certification
Support, in the sum of one million shekels for courses and training on the environment
Support, in the sum of about 1.5 million shekels, for reducing pest nuisances
Support, in the sum of 150 thousand shekels for purchasing noise and radiation measuring equipment.
Support, in the sum of 500 thousand shekels for the purchase and maintenance of equipment for treating hazardous material events

| Israel and US partner in alternative energy research |
|
US President George W. Bush signed into law this week a bill that will grant millions of dollars in funds for joint US-Israeli research into alternative energy.
The bill, passed overwhelmingly in both the House and the Senate, will provide opportunities for joint research and development projects involving renewable and alternative energy and energy efficiency. The law also requires greater fuel efficiency in automobiles and promotes ethanol production.
